Hello and welcome to the Rice Pudding blog - a sort of finishing touch, or sweet side dish, to our Canned Rice website. We launched Canned Rice Productions last year (2014) with our first production, Understudy Blues. While our shooting and touring schedules have kept us too busy to produce another theatre production from scratch (but don't think we haven't been writing in anticipation), the photography side of the business has gone from strength to strength and Richard has been freelancing as a director as well as co-writing a beautiful radio drama with Stephen Manwaring, (seriously, I cried while typing the final scenes) which will be produced by SAFM. This blog is manned, or womaned, by Candice (unless Richard yells his input across the room while watching footie), and hopefully this will be a space for us to keep you up to date with what we're up to photographically, theatrically and televisually. At the moment you'll be able to watch Richard in Black Sails, which has just started screening on the History Channel in South Africa. Look out for his arrival, playing opposite Flint and Silver in episode 4. If you're in England you're already eagerly anticipating season 2 and if you're in America you're obviously already desperate for season 3. If you watch the sneak preview of season 3 below, you'll see a bald head belonging to Richie. Rich is also currently doing all that prep work that directors do (and that actors don't like to think about) for Revel Productions Spectacular, Spectacular. Auditions are coming up soon so you can email CV's and head shots to [email protected] to book your slot. I'm enjoying a well deserved rest after finishing a 5 month run as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors. "Resting" involves singing through the score of Sweeney Todd very loudly (which doesn't annoy our neighbours nearly as much as we intend) and being coached by Richard to do a proper Cockney accent rather than the tribute to Dick van Dyk in Mary Poppins that I usually fall into. Costume fitting on Sunday and rehearsals start in 2 and a half weeks. So here goes blog post number 1. Enjoy. x |
